Over the past few years, various media have featured the work of Thomas Sparling Inc., and quoted Tom Sparling regardingissues related to landscape and garden design. These have included The Globe and Mail, The Toronto Star, Gardening Life, Cottage Life, and Canadian Gardening Magazine. 

In 2004, Gardening Life, Canada's premiere gardening magazine, identified 55 Canadians whose work has contributed significantly to the recent directions in landscape design, horticulture and gardening. Tom Sparling was identified among five of his peers (The Big Guns) —landscape architects noted for their contributions.
